Memorial Arch

Sights of Mogilev

The Mogilev Memorial Arch was built in 1780. It was in Mogilev that the fate of the Commonwealth decided . In memory of this event, the Austrian Emperor Joseph II and Empress Catherine II agreed to build two identical cathedrals - St. Joseph in Mogilev and St. Catherine in Vienna. Iosifovskiy cathedral is not preserved. Today only monumental arched gates - the Arch of Glory - remind him.

In 1964, on the arch were installed memorial plaques on which the units of the Red Army, which were awarded orders for participation in the Great Patriotic War, and also received the name “Mogilevskie”, are listed.
